Internet Access Troubleshooting

If your Internet access is not working properly, please check the following:

First, go to the Start menu, Settings, then select Control Panel.

Once the Control Panel window is open, select System (double-click on the icon)

Select the tab labeled Device Manager.  Locate Network Adapters in the list.
Click on the + next to Network Adapters.  Verify your network card is showing
under the Network Adapters heading.  If there is a red dot, yellow exclamation
mark, or other unusual marking, your network card is likely malfunctioning or
not installed properly.  You will want to rectify this problem before proceeding
to the operations on pages 2 and 3 of this Troubleshooting guide.

If your network card does not have any unusual markings next to it,
select the card, then click on the Properties button.  This will bring
up a window like the one below.  Verify that the Device Status window
says something similar to "This device is working properly."

in a clear part of the window, click once with the right
mouse button and select Properties.

In the Properties window, select TCP/IP and click on the Properties button.

Select the IP Address tab.  Verify the radio button labeled
"Obtain and IP address automatically" is selected.

Next, select the Gateway tab.  Verify the Gateway box is blank.

Finally, select the DNS Configuration tab.  Verify the radio button labeled "Disable DNS" is selected.
