Q. Who is Supervision
Inc. High Speed Internet Access Services (SVI)?
A. Supervision Inc. Broadband Internet
Access is a service created by Supervision Inc. to provide
high speed Internet access via the use of a broadband antenna.
Q. What do I need to be installed?
A. You will need to have an
ethernet card installed on your computer also you must have windows 98 or higher
installed on the computer. If you are using a Macintosh you are
responsible for making sure your computer is combatable with our services. If
you are connecting more than one computer you will need a router. If you

Supervision Inc. depending on availability.
Q. How
does Wireless Broadband Work?
A. Your computer is connected to the internet through a
small antenna mounted on the side of your house. A cable is
run from the antenna directly into the ethernet card on your
computer or a router. Your antenna will receive a signal from
our antenna.
Q. What should
you do if there is
difficulty with the service?
A. Call the SVI Wasilla office at 1-800-478-2556. If
you experience an outage in service please restart your computer and then try
connecting again if service still does not return please call the Wasilla
Office. Also see our
TROUBLE SHOOTING

Q. How can I get
an e-mail address?
A. SVI offers one free e-mail account for each
Internet account. Additional e-mail accounts may be obtained for $5 per
e-mail account. If you would like an email address please call into the
Wasilla Office at 1-800-478-2556.
Q. What is the speed
of my wireless connection?
A. There is no good answer. Speed has a number of
factors. Locally, information can be passed from one point to another at
5.12/Mbps. The local capacity can easily be expanded to 10/Mbps if demand
warrants it. This is shared capacity among all active customers online. Speed
is a function of many factors, the computer you're using, the local network, the
speed of the server information is being requested from, the congestion of the
links from the server back to the local system as well as many other factors.
There are a number of other items which will
determine the performance while using the system. First, is your computer.
If your computer can't process the information as fast as it is being delivered,
then the processing speed will be slower. Second, is the computer from
which the information is requested. If this computer is slow at providing
the information, you will receive the information slowly. Third is the
network, which gets the information from the computer providing it to you to
your computer. If the routes through which you requested the information
has a lot of users, your request will be processed slower. Over time you
will find a usage pattern which gives you the best performance for your life
style.
Q. Where does your
responsibility begin?
A. Much like the cable systems where the cable service
is provided to a converter box, service will be provided up to the output of the
broadband antenna. When a problem occurs SVI has a computer which plugs into
the broadband antenna and if the system works to that point, then it's a good
indication that it is your computer and you will need to resolve the problem.
SVI will do what it can to help, but we are not experts in the computer hardware
business. If the problem lies with the customers hardware and not the
broadband internet our technicians time to fix the problem is billable at $55.90
per hour.
Q. Are
there additional monthly costs?
A. For the
typical customer , no. For customers uploading and downloading
large amounts of information, yes. As a result of the
need to avoid network congestion, users downloading
and uploading large files will be assessed a $0.10 MByte charge
in excess of 6 Gig Bytes downloaded or 3 Gig Bytes uploaded.
